Mr. Lee Tomlinson

Ted speaker on Compassion in Healthcare

Speaker Information

The  life’s work of “Patient Lee” is to motivate medical professionals to reinstate compassionate
C.A.R.E. at the forefront of contemporary/medicine in order to benefit their patients, coworkers,
the financial health of their hospitals, and perhaps most significantly, themselves.Nothing about
getting there was easy. Thanks to a lifetime of constant, remarkably effective medical care and truly
compassionate attention, “Patient Lee,” an award-winning television producer, studio owner, former professional athlete, and TED speaker, is still with
us today.This movement seeks to motivate the 12.5 million healthcare professionals in America to
rediscover the compassion that initially drew them to the medical sector and to be moved to take action.

Highlights

  • We endured months of excruciating treatments after his cancer diagnosis and battled a septic infection.
  • Lee describes how he felt like a “piece of meat” being handled. There is no mercy.
  • A doctor buddy persuaded him to give a public speech about the effects of care without compassion when he was at his lowest.
  • Compassion may bridge any gaps that separate us.
  • We are wired from birth to crave connection.
  • Lee provides strategies for demonstrating self-compassion.
  • Before you can assist anyone else, you must look for own health and well-being.
