Primary Healthcare

Primary healthcare refers to essential and basic healthcare services that are accessible, comprehensive, and community-based. It serves as the first point of contact between individuals and the healthcare system. Primary healthcare is a foundational and integral part of a healthcare system, aiming to provide holistic and preventive care to individuals and communities.

They are in charge of the ongoing care of sick people and must assess their health status and assist them throughout the recovery process. A nurse’s responsibilities may include the following:

  • Promote health and illness prevention
  • Care for the disabled and the physically and mentally ill
  • Participate in healthcare education.
  • Participate in healthcare delivery alongside other team members.
  • Supervise nurse education and training.

Nurses always advocate for the best interests of their patients and emphasise holistic health, which includes the patient’s physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
